Happy Birthday Post Learning Commons!

Happy Birthday Post Learning Commons!

Isn’t it hard to believe it’s been a year since the John and Maryanne Hennings Post Learning Commons opened its doors?
The Post Learning Commons has become such an integral part of campus life that it seems like it’s been here all along.

The impact of the Post Learning Commons is astounding in just its first year –

  • student library usage is up by 70 percent,
  • we have exceeded 77,000 visitors in one month,
  • nearly one in four students visits four or more times a week,

And most importantly, our students have made this special place their own.

To celebrate this milestone for the University, please join us for Birthday Cake on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at 1 p.m. in the atrium of John R. Post ’60 Academic Center.

Rock Excavation – Construction Noise

Under Construction
Throughout the semester you will hear a lot of noise coming from the Post Learning Commons construction site.  Construction managers have done their best to keep the noise to a minimum, when possible. We understand that many of you come to the Library for quiet study, which is why construction managers have scheduled the loudest work to occur during our least busy times.

Excavation Schedule:

Starting Monday, January 24, 2011

(M-F) from 6am to 10am – hammering
(T and R) from 6am to 1pm – hammering
(M-F) rest of time – low hum noise

Spring Break – full time hammering
4/22 & 4/25 – full time hammering
Weekends – hammering only if contractors fall behind
Exam Week – They will go silent

We thank you for your patience during this process.

NEW BATHROOMS! – Note change of location

Photograph by C. O. Dixon

As a small army of people and machinery were busy outside the Drexel Library digging trenches, chipping granite and hauling it away over the semester break, there were a smaller number of folks inside Drexel Library re-doing the facilities.  And what a makeover it is!

What were once small, dingy rooms have been replaced with spacious restrooms decked out in a tasteful, but cool color scheme.  If the installation of these new bathrooms is a preview of things to come, we can only anticipate the exciting changes on the horizon!

PLEASE NOTE:

The men’s and women’s rooms have switched locations so that what was previously the men’s room is now the women’s room and vice versa.
