Briefly describe your position/opportunity

"I started working at WHYY as an Associate Grants Writer. In this position I researched, wrote, and edited grant proposals and reports for institutional donors, conducting prospect research and assisting with donor stewardship efforts. After three years, I was promoted to my current position, Foundation and Corporate Grants Manager. In this role I have more responsibility over the grants in my portfolio. I work with foundations and corporations to help support the myriad of programs and services we provide at WHYY."

How did you first learn about or get connected to your current position/opportunity?

"I learned about the position through a web search of grant writing opportunities. A position at WHYY was open and I noticed the director of the department was a St. Joe's alum. I connected with her over LinkedIn, asking if I could call or meet with her to learn more about the position and also about her journey in this field. We met and she ultimately became my manager!"

How did your SJU education impact your position or professional goals?

"My education at Saint Joseph's University taught me to be a stronger writer which has helped me every day in my position. My work in the writing center taught me how to be a better editor and the importance of having someone review your work."

Did you participate in any experiential learning activities while at SJU?

"I participated in the PSP Honors Fraternity, studied abroad in Madrid, worked in the Writing Center, was a Hawk Host, and did APEX three out of four years."
