Tell us a little bit about your internship position:

"I was heavily trained to work in Microsoft Access. I work with all departments such as Underwriting, Claims, and Marketing which has helped me gain a lot of knowledge about the industry as a whole. I create reports for departments in areas where they would like data and information for their decision making process. Technology and big data plays a huge role in what I do and led me to minor in Business Intelligence and Analytics."

How did you land your current position?

"I was fortunate enough to get to know Mike Angelina, a Risk Management and Insurance professor at Saint Joseph's University who sent my resume to Admiral who was looking to launch a new internship program in 2016."

What is some advice that you would give to students who are currently searching for internships/who are about to do their first internship?

"The best advice I can give is to not be afraid to ask questions! Although I was labeled as a Business Analyst Intern, I went to many department meetings to see what interested me. Employees are eager to teach the subject they are passionate about. They are also happy to see that students are interested in the Insurance industry. Another piece of advice I'd give is to use what you've learned throughout college to help you during your internship. I brought in notebooks from previous classes to help make sense of things. The classes I've taken and the experience through my internship has overlapped and started to make a lot of sense. It is such a great feeling!"
