"I am working to provide operational support to the development team which is currently working on setting up a 30 nodes cluster. I am mostly responsible for implementation and support of the Enterprise Hadoop environment. I basically do designing, capacity arrangement, cluster set up, performance fine-tuning, monitoring, structure planning, scaling and administration. I got to know about this job from an agency. Then, I applied and after having several interviews with them, I secured the position."

How did your SJU education impact your ability to land this position?

"I have learned many valuable materials from the courses I have taken at SJU, especially, Big Data and Web intelligence. That was the best course in my entire graduate program at SJU. I learned about SQL and NoSQL databases like MongoDB, Cassandra, Hbase, MySQL and Oracle. In addition, I learned about cloud computing using the Google cloud platform, which subsequently led me to learn about AWS. And most importantly, I have learned about Hadoop which has turned into my career."

Did you participate in any experiential learning activities while at SJU?

"I have participated in 5 competitions outside school where I used my skills and creativity to create new projects. I went to colleges like Johns Hopkins University, Georgetown University, Drexel University, University of Maryland and participated in EvoHacks in Philadelphia, where I teamed up with other people and made unique Mobile apps and other software. I have also done an internship online where I got a chance to emphasize on my big data skills more."

What will you do next?

"I was accepted into Johns Hopkins University graduate program in Cybersecurity. I will be attending and completing my second graduate degree there."
