Describe your internship.

The State Department's mission is to shape and sustain a peaceful, prosperous, just, and democratic world and foster conditions for stability and progress for the benefit of the American people and people everywhere. USUN serves a vital role as the Department of State’s UN branch. Today, USUN staff serve to represent the United States’ political, economic and social, legal, military, public diplomacy and management interests at the United Nations.

What tasks were you responsible for in this role? How did you contribute to the organization?

In this internship, I used my networking and communication skills when interacting with and meeting high level officials such as the President of the United States, the President of Ukraine, and 50+ Ambassadors to the United Nations. I used my project management, leadership, and analytical skills to meet key deadlines and successful project completions, and gained trust from leadership to represent the United States at the United Nations in key meetings to advance organization interests. I conducted analysis and assessment of big data and intelligence to determine relevant information, threats, and potential pre-texts of conflict or areas of interest to the United States and conducted financial and budgetary analysis. I also used my foreign language skills to advance organization interests and engage with the international community.

How did your SJU education prepare you for this role?

It gave me the craving to "Live Greater".
