Academic Boot Camp
Academic Boot Camp is an event held on the first day of classes for freshmen student-athletes. During the event, freshmen will receive information on the office, academic support, and begin to organize and plan for their upcoming semester.
Throughout the Fall semester, Freshmen student-athletes will attend 3-4 Freshman Seminars. These seminars provide information of a variety of topics, including: how to break down an assignment, writing a paper and avoiding plagiarism, a senior panel Q&A, class registration, and a hot topic. This semesters hot topic will include a speaker from career development.
The Office of Educational Support Services for Student-Athletes recognizes the benefits that study hall offers freshmen student-athletes making the transition from high school to college. Therefore, study hall is mandatory for all incoming freshmen student-athletes. Required number of hours vary from 6-10 hours each week, based on individual teams.
In addition, study hall may be required for upperclassman. Required hours are dependent upon cumulative GPA and team requirements.
