The University’s Director of Title IX Equity & Compliance coordinates the University’s compliance with Title IX and oversees the University’s investigation and resolution process for reports of Sexual Misconduct. The Director of Title IX Equity & Compliance is supported by three University administrators who serve as Deputy Title IX Coordinators. The Director of Title IX Equity & Compliance and the Deputy Title IX Coordinators are knowledgeable and trained in state and federal laws that apply to matters of Sexual Misconduct, as well as University policy and procedure.
Training of University Administrators Involved in the Title IX Grievance Process
On May 19, 2020, the U.S. Department of Education issued a Final Rule under Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. The full text of the Final Rule and its extensive Preamble are available here. The Final Rule requires that schools make public the materials used to train the individuals who implement its sexual harassment policies and procedures.
Saint Joseph’s University is a member institution of the SUNY Student Conduct Institute (SCI). The Title IX Coordinator, Deputy Title IX Coordinators, Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards, Decision Makers, and Appeal Board members receive training through the SCI. Saint Joseph’s University utilizes an external investigator and external Hearing Officer for matters resolved under the Interim Grievance Policy for Addressing Formal Complaints of Sexual Harassment Under Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972.
