At SJU, we encourage all members of our community to report instances of sexual misconduct that occur. Reporting an incident of sexual assault or other misconduct may seem like a daunting step to take. The important thing to know is that you have options. Though SJU will investigate reports that are made to University officials, please know that students can elect to participate in the University process, or can decide to stop participating at any time. That is the student’s right.
Please explore the links below to learn more about options to report an incident of sexual misconduct.
In an effort to support the individual as well as the campus community, the options listed below will initiate a response process. For the safety and security of our campus, the University must investigate all claims of sexual misconduct and violence within the community, whether the survivor elects to participate or not. If you wish to speak with someone for confidential support, please see below or the offices listed as “confidential” on the resources section of this site.
Confidential support when deciding whether to report – Reporting an instance of sexual misconduct might seem confusing. A survivor may be unsure of if or when they would like to report what occurred. Talking with someone for confidential support, or to discuss if and when to report an assault, can be helpful. Confidential support options at Saint Joseph’s University include counseling support through Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS), support through the Rape Education & Prevention Program (REPP), speaking with clergy (acting in their role as clergy). Private medical support and treatment is available through the Student Health Center.
