This site is designed to provide information to the Saint Joseph’s University community about issues of Sexual Misconduct. Specifically, we hope to provide resources and options for support should you or a friend become a victim of sexual misconduct, including Sexual Assault, Sexual Exploitation, Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, or Stalking.
Sexual Misconduct is the most under-reported violent crime on college campuses. Due to the silence that often surrounds instances of Sexual Assault and other forms of Sexual Misconduct, many people are unaware of the impact it has on our community. Statistically, about 1 in 5 women and 6.1% of men will become the victim of an attempted or completed sexual assault by the time they graduate college. There is help and support at SJU.
At SJU, we believe that awareness of this community-wide issue is critical.
Sexual misconduct and violence can happen to anyone regardless of size, gender, strength, sexual orientation, race, status or religious background. This issue affects us all.
Research has shown that students turn to each other for support first in a difficult situation more than any other resource on or off campus. SJU is a community that looks out for each other and encourages all members to do the right thing to support a fellow Hawk.
