1851 Entertainment is a student-run entertainment group at Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA.
We are responsible for many of the on-campus music events, including various Open Mic Nights, Artist Spotlights and Music Festivals. We want anyone on or off SJU’s campus to come and express themselves through a creative outlet.

To bring joy and music through accapella to the campus and surrounding Philadelphia area.
to connect students, involved within STEM programs, to build a network for intellectual collaboration, mentorship, and encouragement. This club holds workshops and events with employers to give students in STEM the opportunity to network.
The Accounting Society at Saint Joseph’s University helps provide accounting majors with an outside of the classroom knowledge of accounting. Every year, the Accounting Society introduces many educational experiences to the students, as well as allows for multiple networking opportunities. The speakers we bring in include those among a variety of backgrounds.
Active Minds is a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising mental health awareness among college students, on the peer level. Active Minds was founded by Alison Malmon in 2003, after her older brother died by suicide in 2000. Our mission is to spread awareness and begin the conversation, while working to break the stigma behind mental illness.
Actuarial Science Club
The Actuarial Science Club is meant to enhance conversation between all grade levels of actuarial science majors and to maximize every actuarial science student’s opportunities while at SJU.

The AMA chapter of the Saint Joseph’s University is devoted to helping it’s members, student body, and community make great strides in teaching, communicating, and connecting with plethora of marketing resources. The Black Student Union is an organization created to unite African-Americans and other minorities across the campus of Saint Joseph’s University, provide education of Black heritage and culture, and assist in raising awareness in the campus community of the problems facing African-Americans.
BTG (Bridging the Gap)
Bridging The Gap (BTG) is a proactive and progressive organization that aims to promote awareness of ALL diversities and underrepresented lifestyles and ethnicities in order to create a more welcoming and accepting environment at Saint Joseph’s University. BTG strives to create a cohesive community amongst the student body, faculty, and administration to spread the message of unity and embrace the beauty and celebration of diversity with the support of the entire campus community. BTG will increase consciousness of the need for the celebration of all identities “bridging the gap” between people from all walks of life.

Chemical Biology Society
The Chemical Biology Society of Saint Joseph’s University intends to provide a scholastic opportunity for all students with an interest in chemistry, biology and/or biochemistry, to come together. Colleges Against Cancer – Relay for Life
Relay for Life: The hope that those lost to cancer will never be forgotten, that those who face cancer will be supported, and that one day cancer will be eliminated. Relay for Life is a on campus event that takes place in the spring that fundraises money for the American Cancer Society.
Computer Science Club
The mission of this club is to create a welcoming community to computer science major, minors, and all undergraduate students. We aim to expand the horizons of students so they have a better understanding of the wide variety of different categories of computer science. The computer science club at SJU was created to share the common passion, love, and understanding of all things computers with similar people, creating a fun group dynamic that is academic in nature.
Council For Exceptional Children
The purpose of CEC is to offer experiences to Saint Joseph’s University students to be involved in social and academic interactions with people with disabilities of all ages. CEC should also promote awareness and understanding about people with disabilities to all members of the Saint Joseph’s community.
Crimson and Gray
The Crimson and Gray is Saint Joseph’s Undergraduate literary magazine. We provide students with a platform to express themselves through poetry, prose, drama, photography and art.
Delta Delta Sigma Pre-Dental
Delta Delta Sigma is an organization at Saint Joseph’s University for students who wish to pursue a career in dentistry or its associated fields. The goal of the organization is to educate students about the opportunities in the field of dentistry and to provide them with helpful knowledge and resources which may aid in acceptance to dental school.

Enactus is an international organization that connects student, academic and business leaders through entrepreneurial-based projects that empower people to transform opportunities into real, sustainable progress for themselves and their communities.
The Mission of the Club is to promote, and foster an environment of Entrepreneurship for undergraduate, and graduate students. We bridge academic theory with actual business experience. We instill opportunities to develop members leadership, entrepreneurship skills, and instill high ethical standards.
Expressions of Praise ( Voices of Praise)
Expression of Praise is dedicated to spreading the gospel through song, dance and spoken word. The group knows no cultural bounds as members are invited to introduce their cultural representation of the gospel.
The SJU Film Society dedicates itself to introducing students at Saint Joseph’s University to a wide variety of movies renowned for being culturally, historically, and/or aesthetically significant in the world of cinema.
The mission of the Finance Society is to provide students with exposure to the practical aspects of the world of finance through presentations from professionals in the field.
Financial Planning and Wealth Management Society
Further educate the student body on the importance of financial planning and help foster a strong network between financial service alumni and the students involved with our organization. In addition to this, we are working to help differentiate the financial planning major from the other majors of the Haub school of business.
Followed By A Bear Student Theater
Followed by a Bear is SJU’s one and only entirely student-run theatre company. All of our scenes are written, directed, and performed by students. Our mission is to get everyone involved in doing what they love, whether it be creative writing, acting, or anywhere in between. We serve as a creative outlet for people of all experience levels.
Food Marketing Association
The mission of FMA is to provide all students, both food marketing majors and non, the chance to connect with real world executives to get insight about potential careers. We host speakers from large companies that give students a chance to network and learn from their past successes and failures. Our goal is to make students more aware of the countless job avenues they could follow and to be able to approach interviews with confidence.
Food Recovery Network
To fight food waste and hunger in the Philadelphia community by taking leftovers from Campion and delivering them to two shelters.
We compete against other college teams all over the northeast and the country. You are only in college once enjoy it! We guarantee by joining our team, you will do just that!
We are the organization that brings all of Greek Life together. We have representatives from both fraternities and sororities that announce chapter functions as well as collaborate on ideas to promote the Greek community.

Founded in 2007, the SJU Greek Club acts as a social union for students of Greek and Cypriot descent on Hawk Hill and promotes Hellenic cultural traditions through a variety of activities, both on and off campus.
Habitat for Humanity
The mission of Habitat for Humanity is seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope.
Hand in Hand
The mission of Hand in Hand is to spread awareness, increase interaction, and create unity among the Saint Joseph’s University community and individuals with physical and developmental disabilities. We host an annual spring carnival held at Saint Joseph’s University, serving the community of special needs. We have approximately 1,000 buddies, friends, and volunteers that participate each year.
African Awareness Club
We are a collegiate, co-ed A Capella group, established in 2013, that aims to learn and create different genres of music in fun,engaging ways.
Hawks for Heroes
To unite all members of the Saint Joseph’s University community to honor and support the unsung heroes of our time: our service members, veterans, first responders, and their families.
Hawks for Just Employment
The purpose of Hawks for Just Employment is to strive to advocate for workers rights, living wages, and safe working conditions for workers on campus, all rooted in the Just Employment Policy. The organization will work with campus leaders, administrators, and organizations with the goal of implementing and maintaining the Just Employment mandate and policy.
Hawks in Flight
To establish a community among students who do not live on campus and to have them be more interactive with SJU.
Hawks On Pointe
Hawks On Pointe aims to provide high quality, high energy entertainment through a fun song and dance ensemble. We will encompass performances of songs on the radio, tap and other dance-based routines, as we as numbers from TV and Broadway’s greatest hits. HOP will act as a resource for students to improve their overall singing and dancing skills. The a cappella groups, choirs, and SJU musicals have singing. The dance team has the dancing. HOP will bring these two sides of performing together.
Hawks vs. Cancer
A group of college students, faculty, and staff dedicated to eliminating cancer in any way we can. We raise money, awareness, and prevention through different groups on campus such as Campus Ministry, Greek life, clubs, and athletic teams. We specifically try to work with foundations that are related to SJU (i.e. Casey and Margo team bamit) we are here to support those fighting, celebrate the survivors, and remember those who have passed.
Hearts of Hope
We hand paint clay hearts and include kind messages and send them to those who are in need of support during a devastating time. We hope to uplift those with our home made gifts and we wish to show that we are thinking of those who are in need.
Her Campus SJU is an online collegiate guide made for the women at SJU. Apart of Her Campus Nationals, our chapter updates seven sections weekly on news, style, blog, events, campus cuties, campus celebrities, and one weekly poll.
Higher Destination Choir
Formerly known as Expressions of Praise, Higher Destination Choir, abbreviated as HD Choir, is a student led on campus organization which seeks to broaden the religious representation on campus. By way of song, Higher Destination choir is a defined setting for student expression as well as spreading of their faiths. The group knows no social constrictions welcoming all to partake in our communal worship.
We are an open group who allows any one to come and explore the theater style of improvisation. We also are aiming to perform a live show once a month not only to gain new members and attract people to join, but to also provided entertainment for the students on campus.
International Business Society
We are an organization of students that seeks to increase interest in business on an international. We will focus on international economies, societies, cultures, and languages. We aim to increase awareness of the International Business major and minor. Educate students on globalization and its effects. Provide networking opportunities for our students. Invite industry experts to bring real world experience into our classroom curriculum.

To bridge the gap/promote cultural appreciation and diversity on campus between international students and domestic students.
Irish Dance Club
The purpose of the SJU Irish Dance Club is to teach, practice, and perform Irish Step Dance. We are created by individuals who are interested in continuing their background of Irish Dance and want to share it with others. The goals of the club are to teach and practice the fundamental of Irish Dance, choreograph dances, perform choreography in the SJU community and Philadelphia community, and to compete in the Colligate Irish Dancing Competition.
To appreciate and celebrate Italian language and culture through food, celebrations, film, and music, and share them with the Saint Joseph’s community.
Japanese Culture Club
To introduce students to Japanese culture.
The SJU Jazz Ensemble is a small band that performs a free jazz concert at the end of each semester. The band always looks for new talent, and is happy to welcome anyone interested in joining our fun, talented group. The band practices once a week (every Wednesday night), and performs on the last Thursday of classes.
Jesuit Just Employment Initiative
The SJU Just Employment Initiative fosters an inclusive campus community that cares for the whole person. We seek to form relationships with workers. We advocate for the compensation of a living wage. Striving to uphold the Jesuit mission of our University, we promote respect and protection of the dignity and rights of the worker.

The International Honor Society in Education. Founded to foster excellence in education and promote fellowship among those dedicated to teaching.

Love Your Melon Campus Crew
As the Saint Joseph’s University campus crew, we will work to represent the underlying mission of Love Your Melon: to spread awareness about childhood pediatric cancer, as well as support those non profit organizations who lead the fight against pediatric cancer. We will accomplish this through campus crew meetings, events on campus, and endorsing Love Your Melon product and sales.
Magic: The Gathering Club
The club’s purpose is to facilitate the playing of Magic: The Gathering for all members. This includes organizing events and meetings for members to play, compete, discuss, and learn about Magic: The Gathering.

Make a Wish Mission: We grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy. SJU Make A Wish Mission: As a group, we will fundraise by creating exciting events on campus to help grant the wishes of those with life threatening medical conditions.

The purpose of Radio 1851 is to provide a creative outlet for any and all individuals who wish to have their voices heard. Being the first college radio station, Radio 1851 acts as the most influential platform on campus. With numerous events being held throughout the semester, along with support of a variety of advertisement sponsors, the club hopes to revitalize all students’ love for broadcasting.

The purpose of the Russian Club is to increase understanding and tolerance for Russian, Eastern European, and Slavic culture, government, traditions, languages, and people, and how all of the aforementioned relates to American culture and government.
Sandy Hook Promise Club
The Sandy Hook Promise Club was created in memory of the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. The national organizations strives to protect children from gun violence by encouraging and supporting solutions that create safer, healthier homes, schools and communities. The mission of our branch at SJU is to participate in the 26 Acts of Kindness campaign, spread awareness about prevention of campus violence, help create a healthy and inclusive environment at SJU, and support/fundraise for victims of violence in the greater Philadelphia area.
To promote involvement with the senior citizen community in the Philadelphia area by inviting senior citizen guests to a Thanksgiving-themed social. Guests are encouraged to engage with student volunteers and other guests while enjoying a Thanksgiving meal and dancing with one another.
She’s the First
She’s the First is a not-for-profit that sponsors girls’ education in the developing world. We encourage young people to creatively fundraise for girls’ sponsorships with their online and offline social networks. For sponsors, She’s the First provides community, leadership opportunities, and a sense of global citizenship. For underprivileged girls, the impact of a sponsorship is life-changing: Most will be the first in their families to graduate.

SJU Dance Marathon
Saint Joseph’s University Dance Marathon is a year-round fundraising event in which participants raise money with the support of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals for The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. It is a way to connect the students of SJU with the Greater Philadelphia Area by raising funds and awareness for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
SJU Real Estate Society
To inform students about the various real estate opportunities in the Philadelphia region while connecting students with various real estate professionals. The mission of our organization is to foster the real estate interests of students through various networking and mentoring opportunities.
SJU Theatre Company
SJU Theatre Company is the premiere theatre producing organization at Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. It has produced plays & musicals on the campus of Saint Joseph’s University for over 80 years.
SJUPride is an undergraduate student organization that strives to create inclusive spaces for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, Queer, Intersex, Asexual, and Ally people. All undergraduate SJU students of all sexual orientations and gender identities are welcome. Pride strives to create holistic experiences for all members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Pride works toward an inclusive understanding of sexual orientation and gender identity in the context of and as it intersects with race, religion, ethnicity, nationality, ability, socio-economic status, and culture.

SHRM provides education, thought leadership, certification, community and advocacy to enhance the practice of human resource management and the effectiveness of HR professionals in the organizations and communities they serve.
Society of Physics Students
The Society of Physics Students is the organization for those interested in the physical sciences at Saint Joseph’s University. We encourage all members of the community who have a passion or a curiosity for physics to participate in our organization. Through different events, we attempt to learn more about the world around us, such as trips to museums and seminars. We also aim to find chances for students who have research experience to be able to display their work at conferences.
Spanish Club seeks to involve the SJU community with a variety of activities to make known the vibrant cultures of the Spanish-speaking world. Through authentic food nights, dance workshops, film screenings, conversation tables, and much more, students can bring to life the culture and language learned in the classroom.
Sports Marketing Club
To promote and educate SJU student. s on careers in the sports industry as well as network with SJU alumni in the sports industry.
The Squared Circle was established to provide an open environment where anyone from every background can join together to celebrate and appreciate one of the most niche forms of art, professional wrestling.
With two predictions forms per month, anyone can become the new Squared Circle champion and boast about their winnings or prove to be a respectable superstar at the monthly viewing parties. You get to decide who you are and what you want to be.
This club is made in the honor of Andrew Shelly, a phenomenal individual whose smile will continue to live on in the heart of this organization.

Thanksgiving Dinner Dance
The Thanksgiving Dinner Dance is an event put on by SJU students and faculty every November for senior citizens in the Philadelphia area who may not be able to visit their families for the holidays. Our main goal is to bring together the community for the holiday and to make St. Joe’s a place for togetherness at a time when they may feel alone.
The Flock: Allies of Recovery
The mission of the Flock is to support others that are affected by Substance Use Disorder and to spread awareness within the student body at SJU through an open dialogue on the topic of substance use disorder and recovery
Think Pink at SJU
Think Pink Week fundraises for one week in October, through bake sales, hat sales, t-shirt sales, and raffle baskets, to raise awareness about breast cancer on campus. At the end of the week of fundraising Think Pink Week donates to a local non-profit for breast cancer. From here the money goes to women in need of wigs, finalizing medical bills, cleaning services for their homes, etc.
University Student Senate
The purpose of the USS shall be to provide full representation of the views and opinions of the students; it shall act as a conduit between the students, faculty, staff and administration, as well as strongly and vehemently advocate the sentiment and interests of the students in both University and community affairs. The USS shall also incorporate the student voice in the policy and decision-making processes of the University.
Our purpose to promote wellness throughout campus using the Wellness Wheel. Whether it is mentally or financially, we want to hold programs to teach the student body about maintaining their wellness.
Women’s Leadership Initiative
Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI) encourages and empowers students who identify as female to be leaders wherever they may find themselves. We promote a safe, gender-inclusive, and intersectional environment that fosters conversations about feminist and gender parity issues. The initiative identifies and mentors female students who want to take an active leadership role in WLI.
WLI Executive Board Members have the opportunity to plan events, coordinate guest speaker engagements, and attend conferences and workshops that focus on the importance of women in leadership positions.
