This page has been created to provide important information related to COVID-19 as it pertains to Human Subjects Research (HSR) protections and the Saint Joseph’s University (SJU) Institutional Review Board (IRB). This page will be updated on an as-needed basis. 

In-Person Interactions with Research Participants

Principal Investigators (PIs) are allowed to conduct in-person research activities, including data collection (i.e., interviews, observations, interventions, etc., effective immediately.

Guidance

The SJU IRB requires that all researchers conducting in-person research activities follow applicable guidance regarding COVID-19. 

On-Campus Data Collection

Any SJU researcher who wishes to conduct research on campus must follow SJU’s COVID-19 protocols and adhere to any and all safety precautions. Information regarding SJU’s COVID-19 guidance can be found on the Hawk Hill Ahead webpage. 

Off-Campus Data Collection

Any SJU researcher who wishes to conduct research off campus must follow applicable local guidance. Researchers should consult the local municipality’s website for COVID-19 guidance.
