Getting on a Waitlist

In The Nest:

  • Go to the Classes & Registration page
  • Select Look up Classes
  • Select Term
  • Select Subject
  • Select Course
  • Select View Sections and scroll down

Follow these steps:

  • There is no check box to select the CRN, but you can see that there is a waitlist and there is still space remaining on the waitlist (by viewing the WL Cap and WL Rem fields). See the screen shot below with CRN 10301.

  • Note the CRN of the section for which you want to get on the waitlist, then click on “Add to WorkSheet”.

  • This takes you to the Add/Drop Classes screen. You see empty fields where CRNs can be entered. This is where you will enter the CRN of the section on which you want to get on the waitlist.
  • Enter the CRN, then click on “Submit Changes”.

  • You will receive a message informing you that the section is closed.
  • On the list of options within the pull-down menu, the default will be “None”; the only other option is “Wait-List”. Select “Wait-List” as your option, then click on “Submit Changes”. This should successfully add you to the waitlist.

  • Once successfully added to the waitlist, the section will appear on your current schedule, as in the screen shot here:

Waitlist Troubleshooting

Once you successfully get on a waitlist, be sure to check your SJU email frequently so that you are aware if a seat becomes available. You will automatically receive an email if a seat becomes available and this window of opportunity is time sensitive.

Once notified that you are eligible to register for a class, please proceed accordingly:

  • Log into The Nest
  • Go to the Classes & Registration page
  • Under Registration Tools, select “Add Classes”
  • From the drop-down menu of the list of options, select “Web Registered”
    • If you do not want to add the class for which you received notification, please select “Drop Course” now to allow the next person on the waitlist to receive notification.

In order to successfully add your waitlisted class, you must take into consideration the maximum allowed credits per semester. If adding this class will put you over this limit, you must DROP one of your currently registered classes.

If you do not have the option to add the class for which you received notification:

  • Confirm that your window of time to add the class has not expired.
    • If you missed the window of time, add yourself back onto the waitlist if this is still available.
  • Confirm that your class load does not exceed your maximum number of credits.
  • Confirm there is not a time conflict between the class you are already registered for and the waitlisted class.
