Provost Search Finalists Selected

Dear Colleagues

There has been significant progress in the search for the University’s next Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.   Our search consultants, Isaacson Miller, recruited and built a very strong pool of candidates for the Provost Search Advisory Committee to review and discuss.  On January 12, the Search Committee met for several hours to carefully deliberate on the candidate pool and ultimately selected eight semi-finalists to be interviewed.   On February 4-5, the Search Committee met with each semi-finalist and, after two days of interviews and engaged discussion, the Committee selected three finalists to visit campus.  In the next two weeks, the finalists will come to SJU and participate in a full day of meetings with campus stakeholders including the President, faculty leadership, academic and administrative leadership, students and Trustees.   After each finalist is interviewed, campus stakeholders will provide feedback to the President while Isaacson Miller provides Dr. Reed extensive references on each candidate.  The timeline for selection of our next Provost continues to be on target and I will keep you apprised of the remaining steps in the selection process.

Update on Provost Search

Dear Colleagues,

As the Christmas holidays approach, I’d like to provide an update on the search for the University’s next Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.   Much has been accomplished in the past several months, and here is a brief summary of the search activities.

  • A web site ( has been established for the Provost search.  The site will be updated throughout the search process.
  • In early October, the search committee finalized the position profile which has been in circulation for the past two months.  The profile, drafted by Isaacson Miller, reflects the insightful feedback provided by the University community during the open forums and stakeholder interviews held in September.
