Major:
Communication Studies

Internship/Job Position:
Corporate Provider Network Intern

Internship/Job Company:
AmeriHealth Caritas

Tell us a little bit about your internship position:

As an intern, I was able to create a report on the differences among the Provider websites of the AmeriHealth Caritas Plans and find ways to improve each of them. I also was able to assist with editing various materials and presentations that would be used to attract more providers to come and join our network.

How did you land your current position?

One of the major strategies that I used in order to land my job was to keep in contact with the director of the first internship I completed with AmeriHealth, allowing for me to be prepared for reapplying again for this year. I also to make use of the Career Development Center in order to help prepare my resume for when I would apply.

What is some advice that you would give to students who are currently searching for internships/who are about to do their first internship?

One major piece of advice would be to maintain communication with the people you have the opportunity to work with. Keeping in contact with those individuals can make a major impact when it comes time to looks for internships and jobs, regardless if you plan to return to that same place or move on to something new. Along with that, I'd say definitely use any resource that can help you prepare for the professional world, especially when you have to places such as the CDC.
