Position:

Assistant Professor of English

Company/Organization:

Delaware County Community College

Briefly describe your position.

"I am a tenured professor of English at Delaware County Community College. In this position, I teach writing and literature courses, serve on committees, and provide other service to the college such as presentations, workshops, and book talks."

How did you first get connected to your current opportunity?

"I began working in a community college writing center while writing my Master's thesis, then applied for and received several adjunct teaching positions. I gained teaching experience at regional colleges for several years before applying and interviewing for full-time, tenure-track positions locally and all over the country. An adjunct position at DCCC led to a temporary full-time position, both of which helped me earn the Assistant Professor of English position I currently hold."

How did your SJU education impact your position and other involvements?

"The Writing Studies program at SJU provided me with a well-rounded study of rhetoric, creative nonfiction, and creative writing. Additionally, I served on the editorial board for the Writing Studies program's literary magazine, Avenue."
