I got a job!

Position:

Account Coordinator

Company/Organization:

Bravo Group

Briefly describe your role.

"As an Account Coordinator at a Public Relations firm, I provide assistance in the day-to-day management of client deliverables in many different fields, but with a focus on our Healthcare clients. This position includes social media management, media pitching, community affairs, research and more."

How did you get connected to this role?

"Representatives from Bravo Group are at the Career Fair each semester. It was at the Fair that I met with the team, provided my resume, and eventually landed a summer internship. This internship continued into the Fall and Spring semesters of my senior year, and ultimately landing me a job offer."

How did your SJU education impact your professional goals?

"SJU offers an interdisciplinary education. This was crucial to my success, as it taught me to look outside the box. Having the opportunity in the classroom to explore many different subjects, I chose to do that outside of the classroom as well. This allowed me to find my true passions. An interdisciplinary education allows you to open your eyes to new things. This makes an SJU student a unique one — with branches of knowledge in many different areas rather than a straight path."

Did you participate in any experiential learning activities while at SJU?

"I have had three other internships in addition to my opportunity as an Intern with Bravo Group. These four opportunities were all diverse. The first, a small ice cream shop — Skipper Dipper on Long Beach Island, NJ — where I managed social media and planned for the vision of the company. The second, a local medium size non-profit — Twist Out Cancer, where I did event planning, research, social media and interviews. Last, a large healthcare system — Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, where I conducted policy work and research as well as media relations. Having many different types of opportunities allowed me to find what I am truly passionate about and what works in the office for my style, and led me to the company I am at now."
