Internship Company:
LGL Partners/Forbes Family Trust

Tell us a little bit about your internship position:

"I primarily work on both the client facing and investment sides, with the occasional compliance project in between. On the client side, I handle the valuations of client's alternative investments (hedge funds, private equity etc...), and on the investment side, I keep track of performance for funds in an internal database and search for new investments that are outperforming their peers."

How did you land your current position?

"During my junior year, Dr. Schellhorn forwarded an email from an alum who works at LGL Partners, saying they were looking for an intern. I immediately sent in my resume, at the time, I didn't even know what hedge funds and private equity funds do. Luckily I got an interview and it worked out really well."

What is some advice that you would give to students who are currently searching for internships/who are about to do their first internship?

"Be willing to consider different types of positions and companies, the more open you are to those types of things, the more likely you'll find something you like. Even if a position doesn't sound like something you want to do, it could end being the career path you really want to go into (it's exactly what I did)."
