Meet the Newest Member of the TSC: Christalyn

The Technology Service Center (TSC) is please to announce that Christalyn Kittrell has joined our team as the newest full-time staff member.  Christalyn’s previous role of TSC Graduate Assistant began in 2011.  She has already stepped up immensely in her new role as Service Desk Analyst.  Christalyn has a BS in Marketing and is currently working toward her MBA with a concentration in Data Intelligence.

Christalyn has a reputation for going above and beyond and we could not be happier to have her on board!  Welcome to the team, Christalyn!

We Are Award Winners!

Have you seen the TSC’s video? If not, you should. It just won an award from SIGUCCS (Special Interest Group on University and College Computing Services)!

A few months ago, User Services’ Director, Lauren Adams, submitted the TSC’s video in a competition.  The competition recognizes excellence in developing useful and attractive publications in a variety of media categories.  The main requirement was that the submission must be created by staff members at SJU.  Once submitted, all entries were judged by members of peer universities.  The winning entries are presented at the annual SIGUCCS conference where all participants can see our work.

Well, we are proud to say that our staff produced video won the Communications Award of Excellence in the category of Short Promotional Video/Audio. Here’s what the judges had to say:

The video is simply beautiful. It’s very well crafted, natural, and really puts a face to the TSC. That’s not an easy mission and by the end of the video we felt like we knew the staff. We also liked the end of the video that provided helpful links to find more information.”

Members of the Office of Information Technology’s Media Services department, Mike Gallagher and Dan Moretz, produced this awesome video.  Olivia Ward wrote the script and Claire Ryan lent her voice.

The Help Desk is Moving!

On Wednesday, August 8th, the Information Technology Help Desk will be moving to Science Center 129 into the newly renovated Technology Service Center (TSC).  On Wednesday, during the move, our staff will still have email access and we will continue to have staff at our current location in Barbelin 30.  During the transition to the Technology Service Center, you can reach us the way you normally would at helpdesk@sju.edu or by calling x2920.

On Monday, August 13th, we will officially open the TSC  in Science Center 129.

Our hours until the start of the Fall semester will be:

Monday – Thursday: 7:30-6:30

Friday: 7:30-5:00

Technology Service Center Update!

As you know, construction has been underway on the new Technology Service Center (TSC) in SC129 since the end of the spring semester. We are thrilled with the progress and we think you will be too.  We are on schedule to move in during mid-August.  At this time, walls are in place and ceilings are about to go up!

As we have mentioned before, the goal of our move is to create a full IT service center that will address the technology support needs of all faculty, staff and students in one convenient location.  In order to accomplish this, our entire Help Desk will be moving to this location along with our IT Purchasing department, our Training Coordinator, and our Technical Support team.

The members of our TSC team are:

Student Help Desk Summer Hours/Location

Hawks,

For the duration of the summer (through Monday, August 6th), the Student Help Desk will be located in the Science Center’s Rm. 113.  At this location, the SHD will be able to complete the same services and repairs that were previously carried out.   The hours for the SHD are as follows:

Monday – Thursday:  9:00AM – 5:00PM

Friday:  9:00AM – 1:00Pm

Easter Break
