On September 30, 2013, Father Michael F. Steltenkamp,S.J., Ph.D., Professor of Religious Studies, Wheeling Jesuit University presented a lecture on “Nicholas Black Elk: Lakota Mystic and American Medicine Man and… Catholic Saint?”
On October 23, 2013, SJU faculty members, Dr. Millica Bookman (Economics), Dr. Eric Patten (Management), and Dr. Brent Smith (Marketing) discussed The Uncommon Classroom: The Jesuit Commons- Higher Education at the Margins.
On March 20, 2014, the series continued with a panel discussion: “A commitment to social justice: Visual Responses to Life in Philadelphia.” The panel was comprised of artists currently featured in the “Look! Contemporary Art and Social Justice in Philadelphia,” exhibit in the University Gallery in Merion Hall and curated by Emily Hage, Ph.D.
