How to Request Library Books or DVDs for Contactless Pickup

  1. Use the Library Catalog or the Discover search to look up the item you want.

  2. When you find the item you want, click the 'Place a Hold' button in the library catalog record.

  3. Log in with your SJU username and password.

  4. You’ll see a page confirming your request was successful.  Log back in to My Library Account at any time to see or cancel your requests.

  5. When your requested items are ready, you will receive an email.

  6. Pick up your bagged items in the library atrium within seven days of notification.  The items will already be checked out to you. If not picked up within seven days, the items will be checked back in and returned to the collection.

  7. Return borrowed items using the exterior book drop.  Items will remain checked out on your library account while they are in quarantine.

Please note: renewal terms, fines, and fees for Interlibrary Loan materials are set by the lending library.

Reciprocal Borrowing Agreements

TCLC

SJU students may borrow materials in person from member institutions of TCLC (Tri-state College Library Cooperative). SJU students must present proof of SJU affiliation and must request a letter of introduction from SJU library staff for use at TCLC libraries

University of Pennsylvania

Free courtesy borrowing from Penn's Van Pelt Library is available to Saint Joseph's University graduate students and faculty.  SJU faculty or graduate students must obtain a signed Reciprocal Borrower's letter from the SJU Drexel Library circulation desk, and present it, along with the current ID, at Van Pelt Library, in order to activate the borrowing privileges.  This is a reciprocal agreement, extending the same privileges to Penn faculty and graduate students in the use of SJU library's collection.

Jesuit Library Passport

Faculty may obtain borrowing privileges from any Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities library, by completing a AJCU Direct Reciprocal Library Borrower form available at the SJU library circulation desk. Take the completed signed form and your SJU ID with you to the participating library.
