The Evelyn S. and Anthony M. ’60 Carfagno Endowed Lecture Series is designed to promote civic engagement and thought leadership by providing informative, engaging discussion, directed by experts in the topical field.
A founding member of the Board of Visitors of the Erivan K. Haub School of Business, Anthony Carfagno served as its chairman for 22 years and is now recognized as chairman emeritus. Co-chairs of the Ignatian Society, the University’s legacy giving society, and charter members of the Magis Society, the Carfagnos and their generosity are ubiquitous across campus from the Carfagno ticket office in Michal J. Hagan ’85 Arena to the Carfagno Seminar Room in Mandeville Hall. The Carfagno Lecture Series promotes civic engagement and thought leadership by providing informative, engaging discussion, directed by experts in the topical field. Carfagno was a driving force behind establishing the Class of 1960 scholarship to honor classmate Wendell Young.
The former president of the Pharmaceutical Quality Institute, Carfagno continued in the pharmaceutical industry after serving as a pharmacist and lab director in the military. The former chairman of the New Jersey Pharmaceutical Quality Control Association, Carfagno also served as the international chair of the American Society for Quality. His activity in trade and professional associations led to his appointment to the board of Quality New Jersey and as chairman of World Quality Day. An expert advisor to the United States Pharmaceutical Compendia, Carfagno was editor-in-chief of the Journal of Good Manufacturing Practice and served on the advisory boards of many other industry journals.
