Wall Street Trading Room Subscription Changes

Morningstar Library Edition and Principia have been replaced with the more comprehensive Morningstar Direct service.  Morningstar Direct provides the most complete and timely link to Morningstar’s global investment database and analytics. It supports in-depth research on any company, from examining stock fundamentals to analyzing stock ownership trends. The platform’s powerful search and ranking capabilities help users find and rank top-performing stocks within a specific time period. Ownership information identifies who owns a stock and who is buying or selling. Morningstar Direct also includes qualitative analysis to complement initial research.  Morningstar Direct will be available on all machines in the Wall Street Trading Room as of Fall, 2009.

The Thomson Corporation and Reuters Group merged on April 17, 2008, to form Thomson Reuters.  As a result of this merger, Stockval (formally a Reuters product) has become merged with the latest version of Baseline – version 7.0. Stockval will no longer be offered or supported as a stand-alone platform .  The new Baseline version is available the first time a user tries to access the server – the user is prompted to download and install the new interface.  Baseline is a complete asset management workflow solution, with in-depth single-security evaluation, portfolio analytics, and client communication tools, all in one desktop application. Planning for Success – MS Office Project 2007

 

Want to organize your department’s projects and events more effectively and efficiently?  Consider implementing Microsoft Office Project software.  Office Project 2007 is a project management software program developed and sold by Microsoft which is designed to assist project managers in developing plans, assigning resources to tasks, tracking progress, managing budgets and analyzing workloads.  It helps you to better organize work and people to ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget.


 Saint Joseph’s University has a site license for this program for all faculty and staff members. Faculty and staff can download this to their computers/laptops by following these steps:

Download MS Project 2007

  1. Login to the SJU network
  2. Go to Start – Run
  3. Enter: G:microsoftProject 2007setup.exe
  4. Enter Install Key found in Project folder
  5. Follow the prompts to install

Online Auctions for Nonprofits

If you are exploring ways to conduct an online auction to benefit a nonprofit entity, consider using MissionFish. Fran DiSanti and Jeff Bachovchin directed us to this site when the Executive Food Marketing Program was looking for this kind of platform for their annual Taste of Hawk Hill event.  Once an account is established with MissionFish (proper documentation identifying your institution as a non-profit entity will be required), the account can be linked with eBay to become part of the eBay Giving Works program. This program allows sellers to give proceeds from their sales to a favorite nonprofit, and helps nonprofits raise funds by selling on eBay. Nonprofits can also receive donations from eBay users through the Donate Now feature, which lets anyone with a PayPal account donate to nonprofits right away –without buying or selling anything.
