2019 Francis X. Gerrity Lecture

The 2019 Francis X. Gerrity Lecture, “Running from the Washingtons: Ona Judge and the Founding of a Nation Through the Eyes of the Enslaved,” will be presented by Rutgers professor Erica Armstrong Dunbar: “Running from the Washingtons: Ona Judge and the Founding of a Nation Through the Eyes of the Enslaved.”

Dunbar’s book, Never Caught: The Washingtons’ Relentless Pursuit of Their Runaway Slave, Ona Judge, was a 2017 National Book Award finalist in nonfiction and details the story of Ona Judge, a slave of George Washington’s who escaped while in Philadelphia.
