Opportunities for employment in the real estate sector continue to grow at a significant rate. Assessors, appraisers, sales agents and brokers with an understanding of property valuation and a background in market finance are highly sought after by employers. At Saint Joseph’s University, students can gain a competitive edge by earning a minor in real estate finance.

The real estate finance minor, offered through the finance department in the Haub School of Business (HSB), gives students the opportunity to gain an understanding of the theory and practice of the real estate industry and requires students to complete a six-course program of study. Core classes cover topics such as commercial real estate valuation, residential loans and investments, and commercial real estate development.

As part of their course of study, students enrolled in the minor will receive training in ARGUS, a software tool commonly used for valuing commercial properties. The SJU Real Estate and Construction alumni chapter is an engaged network of influencers in the industry who work with SJU students to obtain internships and career opportunities.
