Brief Description:

Open Study/Research Award: The Fulbright Study/Research Award is the traditional award opportunity where a candidate designs a proposal for a specific country.

English Teaching Assistant (ETA’s): The Fulbright English Teaching Assistant programs place grantees in schools overseas to supplement local English language instruction and to provide a native speaker presence in the classrooms. Language proficiency is required for some countries (see website above).

Critical Language Enhancement Award: The Critical Language Enhancement Award provides a supplement in the Fulbright U.S. Student Program for grantees to receive between three and six month of intensive language study in addition to their research or study grants. This opportunity is available for select languages and in limited host countries.

Fulbright National Geographic Digital Storytelling: This fellowship is only for students with advanced experience in digital filmmaking. It provides a unique platform for American students to develop global narratives and discuss commonalities across borders around a common issue or theme.

STEM summer undergraduate fellowships: provide $8,000 to do a summer research fellowship abroad

Eligibility: must be a U.S. citizen and have a bachelor’s degree at time of fellowship.

Selection: SJU internal deadline Sept. 8th, 2017. Scholarship deadline Oct. 6th, 2017, an interview is not required, finalist announced in Jan., winners in April (depends on the country).
