Tableau Users Group
Are you a Saint Joseph’s University student who likes telling stories with data and numbers? Have you always thought there has got to be a world beyond Pie Charts and Bar Graphs? Are you a Master’s student looking to expand you skills and data knowledge or an alumni who wants to make sure they are at the cutting edge of visualization at work? We have the group for you!
We are Saint Joseph’s University Tableau Users Group (TUG). We were one of the first major groups featured in the analytics makeover world when the Makeover Monday Challenge group featured us in their blog (http://www.makeovermonday.co.uk/vizhawks/). We meet twice each month (typically Tuesday) during the school year at 5:00 pm. Often during these meetings, SJU Alumni from a variety of corporations will drop in and walk visitors through a basic Tableau dashboard creation. Whether it is showing how to pull some graphics together, changing scales, colors and duels axis, or just telling the story behind the story in finance, sport, or other arenas – there is always something to be learned and networking to be done. Make sure to mark your calendar for Tuesday Sept. 11th for our kickoff event! All are welcome!
Feel confident in your Tableau dashboarding skills and want to come help new users catch the fever – reach out and we will schedule you to present. Email: email@example.com
Can’t make a Tuesday, but still really interested in learning about Tableau? Prefer a more one-on-one setting? We will have support available every Monday from 9am to 8pm in MV 294. Bring your own data set or we can provide one for you using the Makeover Monday site – where there is a new data challenge every Monday. We can provide trial access to Tableau if you do not have access already. This is open to all students (Arts and Science, Education, Business, Undergraduate and Graduate) as well as faculty, staff and alumni. Please consider dropping by if you want to learn more.
Want a real data-viz challenge that also provides a service for others? Help make visuals for “Data for a Cause”. Here non-profit organizations can reach out to get help with data visualizations from students who are working at advancing their skills. This is a new and different way to live the magis!
