Communication Studies Major
The BA in Communication Studies is a major in the College of Arts and Sciences for students interested in specializing in digital media studies as an area of expertise. The major helps students develop advanced skills in communications with an emphasis on digital media studies, including multimedia writing, video editing and production, web content strategy and design, and writing for social media platforms.
Communication Studies Minor
The ability to communicate effectively across multiple platforms is a key to success in multiple career paths. The communications studies minor offers students majoring in any discipline the opportunity to become strong, clear communicators. Minors take courses in digital storytelling, visual rhetoric, literary journalism and modern rhetoric, among others, learning how modes of communication evolve to meet the needs of our technology-dependent and fast-paced society. By analyzing and interrogating print, film and web-based communications while gaining knowledge of the history and development of the digital marketplace, students graduate prepared to excel in any field.
