“Although I’m very sad to leave Hawk Hill, I’m ready. I’m thankful for the foundation SJU has provided me and am very excited to use these experiences after graduation.”
Not only has Clare Kocman ’17 accepted a full time job after graduation, but she’ll also be moving to a brand new city in order to pursue it. Kocman, a risk management and insurance major with a marketing minor from York, Pennsylvania, will be working at Marsh and McLennan, an insurance brokerage in New York City.
“A career in insurance helps people avoid risk and provides support for anything that happen,” Kocman says. “This social value inspires me to work in insurance.”
Though Kocman has built a large network of connections at SJU — in addition to being a member of Gamma Iota Sigma risk management and insurance fraternity and Alpha Gamma Delta sorority, she works as a Hawk Host campus tour guide, volunteers at Our Mother of Sorrows, and studied abroad in Galway, Ireland in the fall of 2015 — she is looking forward to meeting new people in New York.
“I’ll miss my friends and the relationships I’ve built on Hawk Hill,” Kocman says. “But I’m excited to move to a new city and develop new professional relationships and friendships, as well.”
