The Student Union Board is a student-run organization that maximizes the college experience by providing engaging events for the entire student body on a college budget!
So in a nutshell, we are the programming board on campus and all year-long, we plan amazing events for you – both on and off campus – that are either heavily discounted or free! (In case you’re wondering, I’ve been a Late Night Co-Chair for SUB since I was a freshman) Our executive board is made up of 11 students that have a knack for event planning and want to provide entertainment and fun for the undergraduate community.
I am officially starting my senior year of college here at SJU. I have had an unbelievable time on this campus; this has been some of the best years of my life. As I reflect back on my years here at SJU, I am hit with the realization that an end is nearing; a culmination of 4 years of learning will soon end with graduation. As a freshman we all look forward to that day, but now as a senior the finality of graduation makes me a little melancholy. I remember my first days of touring the SJU campus. As I looked around,
Now that SJU is officially in full swing, you may be asking yourself; what is there to do in my free time? Many SJU students ask this question. Being involved is something that we all “want” to do, but when it comes down to it we struggle to find where exactly we fit in. What is the best option to enhance the college experience? Below I have provided you with options, highlighting some of the more popular choices found on the SJU campus, but remember these are only a few of many options available to the student here at St.
“I feel like such an adult.”
So I said yesterday, while in the process of buying a mouse trap.
At what point did it become an “adult” thing to have to deal with mice in your apartment? Adulthood should be associated with having pro-actively cleaned counters and secured food, not with spending 9 dollars on a reactive solution to a mouse emergency. Adulthood should be associated with taking responsibility for preventing bad situations, not just for responding to them when they pop up.
Undergraduate college students are placed in a strange box between childhood and adulthood.
When I began my internship with Bleacher Creatures this summer, I had no clue what to expect from this experience. Many questions surfaced. What will be expected of me? What will the next 11 to 12 weeks entail? What will I take away from the internship?
All I can say is my internship was an amazing experience and would like to thank Bleacher Creatures for the opportunity to intern with such a dynamic company this summer. It was an experience that afforded me a chance to work with and learn from a knowledgeable and experienced staff,
Welcome all incoming freshman that may be reading this blog. Congrats on taking your first step in your college career. Right about now, you are at the point of summer where you are preparing to live away from home for the first time. Getting ready for the big move, trying to prepare yourself for the next big step in your life. You may find that you are having all types of feelings. Some that come to mind may be nervous, happy, excited and fearful for this new undertaking. This move causes so many different adjustments in such a short amount of time.
Free time in college consists of friends, video games, television, and learning. Television is considered the main staple of dorm living during down time. This is especially true during the cold winter months. If you are a college freshman one thing that you will soon discover is the power of Netflix. The online streaming site will be one of you favorite tools to utilize during your college career. Here is a list of the five top shows that I think you should be watching this upcoming school year.
- Friends- Even though this show is over ten years old,
If you are like any other college student when first searching for a job or internship you come to the realization that you have absolutely zero connections. Well, that is an easy problem to fix and this blog will touch on the three of the best ways to make the connections that you need to get recognized.
Before we begin to discuss strategies to gain connections, one must understand the main component which will assist you in this process and that is confidence. The dictionary defines confidence as the full trust: belief in the powers, trustworthiness, or reliability of a person or thing: belief in oneself and one’s powers or abilities.
Whenever anyone asks me whether or not I have siblings I never cease to be stunned. I always respond with a quiet “What?” when really I mean “What?! How could you not know I have siblings?!” It is a simple question with an even simpler answer: yes. I could even eliminate the bonus questions of how many siblings do you have or are they older or younger by saying, yes I have two older sisters. You are probably wondering “What is wrong with this girl? People are just trying to make polite conversation with her. How could they possibly know she has siblings if they just met her?
When most people think of “DIY,” the first thing that comes to mind is probably something similar to the website Pinterest: a Michael’s or A.C. Moore dreamland of doilies, mason jars, sequins, and stencils. Do-it-yourself, however, means a lot more than hot glue-gunning pieces of processed glass (that you bought in a plastic baggie) to your ($4.69 from Walmart) lampshade.
I’m not criticizing crafty decoration of a home or a dorm. It’s the kind of thing I love, actually. The idea of people bringing unique inspiration and style to their living areas really makes me feel hopeful…People actually caring about their surroundings?
