Discovering your Creative Potential

Academic and creative courses offer students a chance to explore the depth and breadth of the arts.  Through our curriculum and programs in art history and studio arts, we address our two primary objectives: to help our students to discover their personal creative potential and to help them develop an awareness of lasting cultural traditions.

Learning from the Past

We encourage our students to analyze the history of art and to make new works building on art from the past.  In addition to rotating exhibits in our University Galleries, we have an extensive permanent collection of art that will be housed in the new Frances M. Maguire Museum (opening 2022).

But Can You Earn a Living in the Arts?

In addition to preparing for graduate and professional work in the arts, our majors have developed careers in a wide range of art-related areas including advertising, commercial photography, gallery and museum work, graphic/web design, interior design, architecture, marketing and teaching from the elementary to the college level.
