There are so many reasons to choose Saint Joseph’s University but the Haub School of Business (HSB) is just one of them. The Haub School of Business at Saint Joseph’s University is known throughout the country. Haub is AACSB (Association to Advanced Collegiate Schools of Business) accredited which is the highest accreditation a business school can have and only 711 business schools in the world have this accreditation! We have the oldest and the top Food Marketing program in the country. Business Week magazine ranked Haub 57th out of the top 1500 business schools in the country. We are also ranked 18th in the country by recruiters. US News Report ranked Haub in the top 24 best marketing programs in the country.
Besides the amazing acknowledgements of Haub’s success, HSB offers many majors and minors that range from Accounting to Food Marketing to Risk Management and Insurance, which allows students to find niche programs and mix and match to find the perfect course of study. Every business major is required to take core business classes that include Accounting, Finance, Marketing, IT and Economics. This way, students graduate with a better understanding of the entire business world, not just the major they chose. Students don’t have to declare a major until the end of their sophomore year which leaves them with 20 classes during those first two years to test the waters. Many students try a broad range of business courses like Finance or Sports Marketing until they find their niche.
Internships are extremely important and HSB has many wonderful business connections for students when it becomes time to apply for those internships or full time jobs. SJU alumni are very helpful and will do anything to lend a hand. I am currently interning at AmerisourceBergen Health Corporation within their Accounting department. AmerisourceBergen is ranked #29 on the Forbes Fortune 500 and is one of the biggest pharmaceutical distributors in the world. I applied for this position through the SJU Career Development Center. On the Career Development website, they list all of the internship and job positions that you qualify for and they also bring companies to Hawk Hill to interview students and host Career Fairs each semester.
The Career Development Center is here to help with everything from writing a resume to hosting mock interviews. They want to make students feel as comfortable as they can when they walk into their first real interview. When I was applying for internships, at least one person at each company that interviewed me was a Saint Joseph’s University graduate. They know what the curriculum is like and they hold SJU students to a higher standard. There are SJU graduates all over the world so it is helpful if you are looking for a new adventure for an internship or after your four years on Hawk Hill. Many students find internships in Boston, Los Angeles, New York City and even internationally through our Career Development Center and our alumni. For instance, one of my good friends is currently interning at Johnson & Johnson in Los Angeles, CA.
My experience in the Haub School of Business has been very rewarding. I highly recommend the HSB and the opportunities it has to offer. If you have any questions, feel free to #visitSJU and find out more about Hawk Hill! I promise you won’t regret it! THE HAWK WILL NEVER DIE!
