The Office of the Provost oversees Academic Affairs, including Faculty and Academic Support, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Assessment and Strategic Planning, and Student Life, each area supported by an Associate Provost. From matriculation to graduation, the Provost’s staff works to enhance every aspect of a student’s experience at Saint Joseph’s University.

Jay Carter

James Carter, PhD, is currently Saint Joseph’s interim provost. He previously was the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Carter has been a member of Saint Joseph’s faculty since 1999 and is a leading and celebrated scholar on China’s modern history, having published three books on related topics and dozens of articles.

Middle States Commission on Higher Education Self-Study

Self-Study, the Re-accreditation Process

The Saint Joseph’s University Self-Study is the multi-year re-accreditation process established by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). Re-accreditation occurs on an eight-year cycle. Saint Joseph’s is preparing for accreditation in 2024. The self-study will culminate in a Self-Study Report demonstrating institutional compliance with the Standards for Accreditation and Requirements for Affiliation with Middle States.
